Because we believe in charities

With charities seemingly expected to do more and more with less, The Sponsorship Report and Hilborn Charity eNEWS feel it’s high time someone gave them a pat on the back, maybe even a leg up the revenue-raising ladder.

That’s the objective behind Pay it Forward, a program pioneered by The Sponsorship Report and Hilborn Charity eNEWS. Every year since 2010, the two publications have generously offered registered charities five complimentary admissions to Sponsorship Toronto, Canada’s premier professional development conference for sponsorship marketers: Out-of-town recipients also receive complimentary air travel courtesy of WestJet.

This year, Pay it Forward is offering even more. Sponsorship Toronto is now part of Sponsorship Week, giving Pay it Forward bursary recipients complimentary admission not only to Sponsorship Toronto, but also to the Sponsorship Boot Camp.

The Sponsorship Boot Camp will be held November 4 at the Grand Hotel and Suites in Toronto. It’s a one-day intensive workshop on sponsorship sales specifically tailored to the needs of the nonprofit sector. The session will be led by Bernie Colterman, Managing Partner of the Centre of Excellence for Public Sector Marketing – one of Canada’s finest sponsorship educators.

Sponsorship Toronto will be held November 5 and 6, also at the Grand Hotel and Suites. It will feature a stellar list of presenters from the cause sector and others, an exciting mix representing sponsors, sponsored properties and agencies.

Pay it Forward bursary recipients may choose to attend either session, or both. For the five Pay it Forward recipients, it is an opportunity to shave years off their learning curve.

“For charities, it’s often difficult to develop a marketing mindset about sponsorship,” says Hilborn Charity eNEWS editor Janet Gadeski. “Asserting the value of their audiences, brands and visibility to sponsors can be tough. Hilborn is delighted to boost the awareness of sponsorship tactics in the charitable sector through the Pay it Forward program.”

“This is such a gratifying program for us,” says Mark Sabourin, publisher of The Sponsorship Report. “To bursary recipients, this is an opportunity that pays dividends for years. This can be a transformative moment.”

Applications for Pay it Forward will be accepted until Thursday, July 18. Apply at www.sponsorship.ca/payitforward.html.
